Lonoke has been selected by University of Central Arkansas and UA Cooperative Extension Service to undertake a 9-month study and analysis of our community which will result in a comprehensive Strategic Action Plan for Lonoke at the conclusion of the process next April. UCA has issued a press release to announce Lonoke’s selection which may be read on our News & Updates in the article Lonoke Selected by UCA & UA Coopertive Extension Service as 2016-17 “Kick Start Community”. This independent initiative called “Kick Start Lonoke” and is being led by a volunteer Executive Committee composed of our neighbors Walls McCrary, Valena Washington, Charles Hunter, Hannah Harris, Michael Florence, Suzanne Dorsey, Dianna Bowen, Jessica Watkins, Adam Starks, and Ryan Biles. Community leaders serving on the Executive Committee include Mayor Wayne McGee and Lonoke Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Bailey.
Kick Start Lonoke is cooperatively supported by key individuals representing the City of Lonoke, Lonoke Public Schools, the Lonoke Chamber of Commerce, the Lonoke Planning & Zoning Commission, the Lonoke Industrial Development Commission and Retail Economic Commission, local non-profits, and area churches.
