Dr. Mark Peterson addressed the group regarding key drivers of change, while 45 neighbors enjoyed pizza from Lonoke’s newest downtown restaurant provided by local businesses First State Bank and ALPS Laminating.
After meeting together as a large group, each Action Team spent about 30 minutes in an individual work session to discuss their respective areas of focus: Infrastructure, Branding & Marketing, Downtown & Retail Development, Housing & Real Estate, Beautification & Recreation, and Jobs & Education. These work sessions explored the data gathered from community input at the October 25th meeting addressing the questions “What is working well?” “What needs improvement?” and “What would this issue look like in Lonoke in 5-10 years if successfully addressed?”
This ongoing conversation and brainstorm session among the members of each action team will facilitate the identification of top priorities and a series of short- and long-term goals related to each area of focus.
The November 15 meeting closed with a brief recap from each Action Team regarding the day’s discussion.
The Executive Committee and Co-Chairs of the Action Teams would like to offer a special thanks to Bro. Scott Miller, Gaylon Eoff, and Michael Florence for providing the use of the Lonoke Baptist Church facilities and their generosity in hosting and supporting the work of Kick Start Lonoke.
The Action Teams NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION! Following the November Public Meeting, each team will now begin meeting independently between the monthly public meetings. Please visit the individual Action Team pages for regular updates, meeting dates, and contact information for Co-Chairs. Your perspective and voice is needed- and it’s not too late to join an Action Team!
The December Public Meeting will be held Tuesday evening, December 13 at Lonoke High School Library. Please mark your calendars and make plans to join your friends and neighbors and get to work creating a vision for the future of Lonoke.
